A new tradition

One year ago, on May 23, 2009, I said I do. I vowed myself and my life to my favorite man. In front of all our family and friends, we promised to love each other for better or worse. In sickness and in health. As long as we both shall live. But those were the formal vows. Secretly, I took other vows.

+ To always make room for hugs and couch cuddling
+ To always root for UCLA anything – win or lose
+ To stay healthy physically and emotionally, together
+ To make spinach, turkey bacon & mushroom omelettes for him
+ To make time for date nights
+ To put technology down long enough to smell his scent and enjoy him

This post is a little late because on our anniversary this weekend, I did just that. We enjoyed a nice weekend in Santa Barbara reflecting on our marriage. Our first year was nothing short of amazing. So amazing, in fact, that we decided to stretch it out for a whole week. An anniversary week! Since it’s our first year, Steven said we’re allowed to make up our own tradition. I love that man. He just gets me and my need to stretch out celebrations!

B – I love you. I feel very blessed that I get to wake up with you every single day. I’m so excited for our future together. If it’s anything like our first year, well then, we’re in for a fantastical ride. I have 3 words for you…you’re my favorite.
