My sweet Amber,
Okay, I lied. The other day when I made you stand in front of my camera, it wasn’t just for fun. It was for me. I wanted that day to last forever and the only way I knew I could remember it, way down the road when I’m old and grey, was to capture it. To capture you now. Through my eyes, through my heart. In a few days, you’ll be on a flight to experience something that will no doubt change your life. I want you to remember you are going to see things that everyone in our family only dreams of seeing. Please don’t forget to seize and appreciate all of it. Learn the culture, taste the authentic food, drink wine, breathe in the overseas air. The world is literally at your fingertips and all of us are eagerly awaiting your return so we can live vicariously through your travels.
I am so proud of the woman you have become and I’m thankful for the bond we’ve been able to form. You’re more than my niece, you’re my little sister. A dreamer, a do-er, a reach-for-the-stars-no-matter what type of girl and really, is there any other way to really get the most out of life? A few years ago, I wrote you an open note. I think a few things still apply so I’ll say them again. Enjoy this, study, make friends, find yourself, LIVE! I know you will.
All my love…A
