One of the best things about weddings these days is making it your own. You can choose a dress that isn’t white. You can wear tennis shoes. You can forego flowers or have your ceremony on a cliff or sing your vows or serve gourmet pizza as your entree. You can have 11 bridesmaids or you can have none. You can fly to Jamaica to exchange vows or run off to City Hall. You can invite guests or just bring your dogs. It’s a beautiful thing having so many choices.
If you’re really untraditional though, you can choose to get ready in the comfort of your own home, together. You can help him with his tie, he can zip you into your dress. You can take deep breaths and exchange nervous laughs, together. Darlene and Gus went this route and it was one of the most intimate wedding preparations I’ve ever been a part of. The image above is one of my favorites of the day. It shows their joy and excitement and nervousness all at the same time. But most importantly, it shows the comfort the two share. I can’t wait to show more of their wedding day soon!
